My family recently took a fishing trip to a catch and release only lake in West Virginia. The lake was long and narrow, but it is filled with some monster bass. We rented a cabin and it made for a great place to rest between the fishing. The first evening we went out and didn't catch a thing. We were disappointed, but we got up early the next morning to catch a big one. We went out at 6 AM and man it was cold! We fished a cove full of standing timber, but we didn't get a bite. we decided to head to another spot and started to catch fish around 9 AM. My dad caught a 5 and a 6 pounder, but we weren't gonna stop there. We were fishing some deep water near the shore and I was using a jig with a white skirt and blue trailer. I felt a tap tap on the line and a second later my rod tip nearly hit the water. I set the hook and reeled as hard as I could. I got the big bass in the boat and weighed it. It was 7 pounds! My new personal best. The bass was beautiful and we snapped a picture before letting the big female back into the lake. This lake will see plenty of me in the future, I can promise you that.
